AutoPay allows you to take payments on behalf of your customers, all in a secure and PCI-Compliant way. There is currently no option in Plastiq for a business to enter credit card information on behalf of a customer.
As a business using Plastiq, you benefit from a few things around credit card processing, including obviously not having to pay processing fees, but also as the Merchant of Record, Plastiq is the entity responsible for dispute liability and PCI Compliance.
Because of this, it is our responsibility to keep our customers' card information and private information secure, and as such the customer (or the member) should enter their information directly into Plastiq. As we cannot guarantee the security of the business in handling the card information, we strongly discourage against the business entering card information on behalf of their customers.
AutoPay is a great feature where you can invite members to enroll, they add their preferred card and authorize your club to process payments on their behalf. From there, you have the freedom to process individual or bulk payments directly from the Business Portal. Additionally, the member gets automatic notifications if a card is about to expire, so you never have to worry about chasing them for updated information.
